you can now own a brand spanking new bmw for $5,000
BMW have released a new eBike model called the ‘Active Hybrid’ as part of this year’s BMW Bikes Collection. This news may be surprising to some people, but the Active Hybrid isn’t the first electric bike BMW have created.

The German company opted for a Brose mid drive system instead of Bosch as used in the 2016 model. It’s a 250W motor capable of producing 90Nm of torque. This same motor is featured on the 2018 Specialized Turbo Levos where a 504Wh removable battery is also used along with the four different power modes; Walk Assist, ECO, Trail and Turbo. Connectivity for the BMW eBike include a micro USB socket and Bluetooth function which allow riders to charge their phones and connect to the bike (for data).

A couple months ago, Selle Royale revealed that they will be releasing the first electric bike specific saddle that was created in collaboration with a BMW group. The same saddle has made an appearance on this BMW electric bike which will provide better comfort and function than traditional saddles.
Details on specifications are limited, however from the images it can be seen sporting SR Suntour forks, Shimano M447 brakeset, FSA cranks and Shimano Deore derailleur. The bike is available to be purchased from their online store for a retail of $5,000AUD (converted from EUR 3,400). Check out more photos below.
